My wife was a diver when I met her and she thought I would really enjoy the activity. On a trip to Cozumel, I was able to take a “Free Scuba Class”. This was a PADI Discover Scuba class and got me into a pool on scuba for the first time. I got down on the bottom of the pool to a depth of 3 ft. I was hooked. I took a guided trip into the ocean that afternoon and began a diving journey that has taken my wife and I back to Mexico frequently. When we got back to the states, I immediately tried to find an instructor to begin my Open Water training. It was mid-December in Texas. I did my Open Water dives in 50 degree water in a semi-dry wetsuit or semi-wet dry suit depending on who you ask. It was cold, but well worth it. Since then, we’ve been diving in Bonaire, Cozumel, the Gulf of Mexico and many Texas dive sites. We’ve been in cenotes, missile silos, local quarries and lakes. It’s a great adventure and we’ve made a lot of good friends on the way. Becoming a Divemaster and then finally an Open Water Instructor was a real challenge. It has allowed me to hone my skills and gives me another reason to get in the water. I really enjoy working with new divers.
